Foreword

After almost a decade of war, the Soldiers and leaders still perform wonderfully. Yet, I am just often asked how we can regain some of our shed skills. While I acknowledge that some skills have worn away, as the Army's proponent for schooling and head development, I prefer the problem I possess. Our Military services exhibits each of the qualities and attributes articulated in The Military services Values. We know who we could, and that's an excellent foundation on which to build.

Nevertheless, we're certainly a different Armed service than i was in 2001, and we remain an Army in transition—always trying to learn, usually seeking to adapt to meet the needs of the Nation. We have be a modular push, and coming from aligned ourselves to the power management process called ARFORGEN.

As plenty in move, it's appropriate that we analyze ourselves being a profession—the Career of Arms—and ensure that we all understand and therefore are living up to the guidelines that define all of us as a job. As someone told me recently, " you aren't a profession mainly because you declare yourself to be a profession…you have to earn the title every day. ” We need to review, reemphasize, and recommit to the profession. We should ensure that our leader development strategies, our training strategies, and our personnel systems all bring about defining us as a profession.

Over the next year, we will lead an analysis of The Profession of Biceps and triceps. We is going to ask themselves two important questions:

ii What does it mean to get the Military services to be a Profession of Hands? ii What does it mean to be a Specialist Soldier following over eight years of warfare?

I inspire broad involvement in this dialogue. If we intend to remain the Army we all know the Nation requires and deserves, there is absolutely nothing more important.
